Positive: This is a fabulous place to stay, right in the centre of Malmö: our room was massive with its own luxurious seating area and the kind of bathroom people write songs about; and at every corner in the building you get the feeling that someone has thought about how to make this both look and feel good. There is a generosity of spirit about the place that comes combined with a slightly tongue-in-cheek humour that is so subtle, you barely notice it, and when you do you think: that's exquisite. We regretted not spending another couple of nights here. Or ten...
Negative: If you come by car, book your spot in the garage well in advance (we didn't and had to move ours elsewhere) and be prepared for a very tight squeeze: your advanced manoeuvring skills may be required, though I believe the hotel actually offers a valet service, which we hadn't been aware of.
And I wish I didn't have to bring this up, but when we settled into the lounge for our gin and tonic, the guy behind the bar really couldn't be bothered. I don't know whether he was having a bad hair day, whether this was his way of projecting 'laid back, chilled here', or whether he somehow thought having a gin and tonic at his bar was just unreasonable, but I've rarely experienced someone so reluctant and surly in 'service'.
